3. DOES SOY CONSUMPTION AFFECT HORMONE LEVELS?
For years many people believed that soy consumption would reduce testosterone and increase oestrogen levels?
Why?
Soy contains isoflavones which are phytoestrogens. These molecules bind to oestrogen receptors within our bodies. This was thought to reduce levels of testosterone and increase levels of oestrogen.
However fear no more, as a 2020 updated meta-analysis of 41 studies reported no change in hormone levels with soy consumption.
