Hello to all new and existing herbalites!
October has provided an exciting first week for the Herbal Docs as we embark on a number of ‘firsts’ for our company.
National Medical Herbalism Conference - October 8th, 9th and 10th 2021
Featuring the latest science, traditional wisdoms and reports from the front-line of herbal medicine, The Herbal Medicine Conference 2021 is a yearly event where speakers from across the globe come together and forge the way forward.
The Herbal Docs have been invited to present a video and host a Q+A sessions for attendees, describing our journey to discover herbal medicine and demonstrating its application in clinical practice. Here is a short excerpt from our video!
This year’s theme is ‘Stepping Forward’ and reflects a need for herbal medicine to come out of this current health crisis stronger harnessing the power of the wider herbal and healthcare communities. Particular sessions I am interested in are listed below!
1) Medicine of Place and the Business of Botanicals: Following Herbs to the Source
Ann Armbrecht shares insights from her journey following medicinal plants to the source. She’ll tell stories of the people and places behind the finished products, highlight good and bad sourcing, and outline steps we can each take to support responsible and ethical sourcing.
Anne is a writer, anthropologist, film producer and herbalism advocate. Ann is Director of the American Botanical Council's Sustainable Herbs Program and author of 'The Business Botanicals'.
2) Holistic Cancer Care
Chanchal Cabrera FNIMH discusses her clinical specialism of holistic oncology (cancer care).
Chanchal lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia where she manages InnisFree Farm and Botanic Garden, a 7 acre internationally registered botanic garden specialising in food and medicine plants.
3) Making Giant Leaps – the role of herbal organisations in Stepping Forward
The panel look at the impact herbal organisations can have in making giant leaps that individuals can’t manage.
I am particularly looking forward to listening to Simon Mills, a Herbal Strategist at Pukka Herbs who has been at the forefront of herbal, complementary and integrated health care development in the UK, Europe, USA and Australasia since 1970.

Arnold Sports Festival - National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham 1-3 Oct
I was delighted to be able travel to Birmingham, on Saturday 1st October to attend the first ever Arnold Sports Festival in the UK, a huge celebration of health, nutrition and sport across 3 days with up to 40,000 attendees. I was invited to consult for a company called SuperBotanics and offer the guests an personalised consultation to discuss health, herbs and longevity medicine. I was super excited to meet my hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger but was left disappointed as he cancelled at the last minute 😰 Nevertheless I learnt so much from the attendees in the field of herbalism, herbal production and marketing.
Here are some of my favourite photos from the expo. I can’t wait to attend next year👇
If you are interested in supplementation with Curcumin C3, Ashwagandha + Saffron or Miracle Moringa - SuperBotanics have some of the highest quality products on the market. Use code ARNOLD20 for a further 20% discount.
All the Best
